Cory Brennan, PE

DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

Education: Missouri Science and Technology | B.S. & M.S. in Civil and Architectural Engineering | PhD. Engineering Management (pursuing)
Certifications: Professional Engineer, NABCEP Certified Solar Installation Professional, OSHA-10
Solar Energy Expertise: Electrical Engineering, Microgrid Design and Integration, Building Sciences, Energy Modeling, and Project and Engineering Management

Cory’s experience in the solar-energy and microgrid industries started in 2012. He has engineered dozens of utility and large commercial/industrial PV projects and dozens of microgrids (AC, DC, on- and off-grid, fuel cells, fossil-fuel backup, and solar-thermal hot water). Cory also performs field inspection and commissioning, peer review and QA/QC for PV and microgrid engineering packages, directs remote and field O&M activities, and remote troubleshooting services for microgrid projects.

Cory is pursuing his PhD in Engineering Management at Missouri Science and Technology. He was active in the operational and long-term planning of MS&T’s sustainability initiatives and served as the Sustainability Coordinator for the Office of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engagement while a graduate assistant. He was instrumental in the adoption of a fully electric campus transportation shuttle, assisting in the route design analysis and marketing. Cory also served as liaison to the University for sustainable development.

Cory also participated in the Solar Village Microgrid as concept architect, field engineer, and technical liaison to MS&T. This project involved the networking of five buildings, PV resources on four of the buildings, solar-thermal on one building, a battery storage plant, a natural-gas CHP fuel cell, and microgrid controller.

From 2007-2009, Cory served as Project Manager for the US Department of Energy entry into the Solar Decathlon Competition.
